F1 in Schools is an international STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) competition for students, where teams design, analyze, manufacture, test, and race miniature Formula 1 cars. These cars are made using CAD/CAM software and are powered by CO2 cartridges, racing on a 20-meter track. The competition aims to inspire students to learn about engineering, physics, and aerodynamics while fostering teamwork, problem-solving, and project management skills. Participants also develop a business plan and market their team, mirroring real-world professional environments and providing a comprehensive educational experience.
As a Team Leader for the F1 in Schools project, Manas plays a vital role in guiding and inspiring a group of talented students through the exhilarating world of Formula 1 engineering and innovation. Manas oversees and coordinates the team's efforts, fostering teamwork, creativity, and problem-solving skills to ensure that the team meets project deadlines, manages resources effectively, and represents the team with excellence. To do this, Manas must work closely with each member of the team to develop different aspects of the project. Manas worked closely with Ravit in order to produce a unique and memorable brand identity, while also working with Tanvi in order to develop marketing and sponsorship strategies.
Sulabh, our design engineer, is the front man on designing our car. His main job is to use his CAD and CAM skills to translate our teams’ ideas onto the design, while also ensuring that every aspect of the vehicle is optimised to attain its maximum speed. This requires him to research different topics such as aerodynamics, weight, and friction, and analyse elements of real-life race cars and how they utilise speed. He will be working closely with our team to implement all the different factors of a good design onto the car while abiding to the rules of the competition.
Our marketing director, Tanvi, manages the team's funds and skilfully employs her abilities to entice sponsors and integrate her financial expertise with Turbo. She is here to assist our team in generating more momentum by putting us in the spotlight and gaining recognition from potential sponsors. This involves her having a strategic mentality and being skilled at creating all-encompassing marketing plans that are suited to target markets alongside fulfilling the team's objectives. Tanvi interacts closely with the team to assist in designing campaigns and oversee all financial matters.
Ravit, also known as Dev, is Turbo’s Graphic Designer. Dev's role revolves around the development of the team's branding and identity. He collaborates closely with the team members, contributing significantly to the creation of the team's brand identity. Dev's responsibilities extend beyond graphic design. He works closely with the team leader, Manas, to shape the design of the team's website, ensuring it aligns seamlessly with the team's identity. Furthermore, Dev takes charge of producing presentations, with a keen eye for consistency to maintain the team's cohesive image.
